Our wines draw their unique character from the Wahluke Slope AVA of the Columbia Valley, where all of our 2013 and 2014 grapes were sourced. Being one of the warmest climates in Washington State, it is in a rain shadow area with south facing slopes.
This enchanting Bordeaux wine stands out with a remarkable dark plum vision, with crystal clarity at the edges. Delicate, but vivid fragrances of rich berry, hints of rhubarb and raspberry with dark cocoa, and light vanilla from the oak influence are reflected. It generates a surprising gift of dry black cherry that opens to a peppery, spicy and tart finish.
The Mattawa Red is our signature winemaker’s blend, combining equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The Cab and the Syrah, while wonderful on their own, complement each other exquisitely in this mélange. Appearance is of the deep vein of autumn red with dark magenta and crimson depths, within bright, leggy edges. This alluring wine assails the palate in the way some of the French Impressionists assail the eye with the brilliance of their colors. It is our smoothest wine offering a complex blend of cherry, blackberry and almond, finishing with the decadence of a chocolate covered cherry.
Our Syrah is a robust, dense crimson wine with powerful aromas of rich, spicy fruits and molasses. It provides an expressive fruit forward feel with hints of blackberry, melon, vanilla and tobacco, followed by the signature Syrah smokiness on the palate. The power of the wine complements the oak it derived from 2 ½ years in new French oak barrels very well.
This bold Pinot Noir draws its unique character from the Wahluke Slope grapes of the Columbia Valley. This wine underwent an extended maceration period before inoculation to draw added color and boldness from the grapes. Aged in all new French Oak barrels for 2 ½ years, it delivers a fruit forward start with a hint of light oak. It starts with a peppery tartness and shifts quickly to hints of cherry, raspberry and vanilla, with lingering tannins to finish.
The Cabernet Sauvignon was barreled in new French oak barrels for 2 ½ years, creating delightful tannins and full, crisp acidity, through to a lingering finish. The cab is our boldest wine, as it should be. It offers a tantalizing fragrance of rich fruits, cranberry, pepper, and oak. The flavor evokes a spicy front mouthfeel, with lingering suggestions of black cherry, cranberry, and a tantalizing dark chocolate finish.
